Rooted in Excellence: Community Support and Growth at Bainbridge Middle School
As the first month for students and staff at the new Bainbridge Middle School comes to a close, members of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Kiwanis Club come together to honor the new building with a dedication and promise of support. “The addition of this new state-of-the-art facility in our community represents not just a new school building, but a testament to Decatur County’s commitment of investing in the future of its children,” commented Kiwanis President, Ashley Kinchen.
The International Kiwanis organization upholds the motto of “Serving the Children of the World” by being a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive.” A special thank you is extended to Matt and Tish Palmer for their generous donation and thoughtful effort in assembling the planters. The newly dedicated planters stand as a living symbol of the school’s commitment to fostering growth, both in the students and in the community. “Just as these plants take root and bloom, they represent the strong foundation we are nurturing for a future of excellence, growth, and opportunity. These planters are a reminder that, like the children they surround, our community is thriving and reaching toward brighter, more promising futures.”
Reflecting on his son’s experience at the new school, Mr Kinchen shared the enthusiasm he sees daily, “His excitement mirrors the pride we all feel as this new school becomes a cornerstone of our community. Bainbridge Middle School is more than just a new building—it is an investment in the future. It reflects Decatur County’s dedication to providing the best opportunities for our children and setting the stage for future growth. As I have the privilege of engaging in conversations about growth and development across Georgia, I truly believe Decatur County is positioning itself not only to be a part of the future but to take a leading role in shaping it. This campus is just one example of the remarkable things happening here, and we’re excited to watch the continued impact unfold.”
A significant part of that growth comes from community involvement. The members of the Kiwanis Club are thrilled to be stepping up as a key partner in fostering the development of our youth. A dedicated teacher at Bainbridge Middle School, Michelle Huffstetler, has volunteered to serve as the sponsor for a newly established Builders Club at Bainbridge Middle School as part of this partnership with Kiwanis. The Builders Club at Bainbridge Middle School introduces students to leadership, service, and community involvement, providing them with essential skills for future success. It serves as a feeder program to the active Bainbridge High School Key Club, fostering a seamless transition into further opportunities for youth leadership and service.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Kiwanis Club for their ongoing leadership, including President Ashley Kinchen, Secretary Amy Eakin, Assistant Secretary Amy Zock, and Treasurer Nancy Moye, along with board members Al Kale, Mary Toliver, and Dr. Crycynthia Gardner as well Superintendent Dr. Boyd English and Bainbridge Middle School Principal, David Kirkland and his team. Their collective efforts and commitment to fostering growth and community involvement make a significant impact in Decatur County.
Stay tuned for more information on the Builders Club, as we’ll be rolling out more details in the coming weeks. The future of Decatur County is bright, and together, we’re shaping it one student at a time.
